Dionaea Muscipula
Also Known As
The "Venus Fly Trap"
Introduction
Probably everyone's idea of a "proper" carnivorous plant, and the
first such plant a collector grows. It certainly was with me.
Native to a small area of North and South Carolina, in the USA
How To Grow
Most importantly, and like most carnivorous plants, needs to be kept very
moist (use rainwater only) in acidic conditions - ideally sphagnum moss. Do not
be tempted to use ordinary potting compost, as this will kill your plant.
Light levels affect the speed of the trap mechanism - low light levels mean
slow trap speeds.
